Post by tartan_rob » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:40 pm

Does anyone know if these will fit (I presume so) and what difference if any will they make?

I suspect they will fit however they are £447 ea, I think the labour to fit would be grim due to the timing chains at the rear of the engine. I am sure there is a way to remove the cams without pulling the engine out.
Schrick list cams 272 and a 264 duration for the S4 V8 not sure how the duration compares with the RS4 V8 cams Priced at 390 euros ea

Isn't the S4 engine 5 valves per cylinder and the RS4 4 valve's? Probably talking out my :assflash:

Schrick make good cams so probably a safer bet.

Ah that was it. I thought the S4 was 4 and RS4 2, but still wrong!

I lied !

The S4 BBK engine has 24 inlet valves and 16 exhaust
The RS4 BNS has 16 inlet and 16 Exhaust

Does that mean I was right? :boots: In the first place...

This I would say means the RS4 inlet cams are a no go and probably also the exhaust cams as the head design must be quite different.

Anyone got any links for Schrick cams? I can't find any site with meaningful information.

Indeed where inlet valve 5 is - there is now the FSI Injector... good thinking Mark.

Rob... you set on modding the v8 aint you? Just give it to the americans - they have some crazy voodoo and get mad power out of v8's.

Had a read up on Elsa yesterday,

To remove the camshafts "you must first remove the engine and split from the gearbox" makes the job a bit more involving.

Fcuk that. too much work, I'd rather not go down the serious tuning road again. Don't mind bolting a supercharger on but not into hoofing engine out.
