Anyone know the correct part numbers of our EGT sensors left and right.
I am getting conflicting information so looking to confirm the right ones before I purchase.

This came up today. Not worried about the fuel pressure as new pumps and regulator will be installed soon.

The EGT sensor error code is a new one which I have not seen before. Hence looking into buying new sensors.

Can the EGT sensors be changed without removing the engine ?
Anyone done it.

You might be able to get to them if you drop the subframe as much as possible. Depends how easily they come off I suspect.

Some previous discussion has a picture of where they are. I think the conclusion was it was easier to drop the engine...someone did it without but it was a pig and involved a lot of hassle.

Could the EGT sensors be flapping because there is a leak in the manifold? Is there the telltale noise that SuperRon identified in his engine drop video?

Thanks shopp/suz
A leak is very possible.
When at a standstill eg traffic lights.
I often get a smell of exhaust gasses.
Disappears when normal driving.

Initially I thought it was from the car in front of
Me.
But now thinking I have a leak. Also throwing a code for the Egt sensor.
No super Ron tell tale noise.

Leak is likely at this age of car really.

Where is EGT2 on the car? That might help with where to look for a leak.

These are the EGT PCB mentioned in the other thread:

Many thanks.

I believe EGT 2 G236 is the right hand sensor.
Will have to have a dig around.

I'd definitely want to investigate a possible leak first though.

I'm a bit concerned about the 17473 fault. The RS6 doesn't have a fuel pressure sensor so it's guessing that the fuel pressure is wrong based on other sensor readings (lambda, MAF, TPS, possibly EGT?, or possibly even current draw from the pump).

You have had / are having fuel pump issues, and there's a chance there is an exhaust leak. A defect with either of these could leak to this DTC.

If it was my car I would investigate the exhaust leak and test the fuel pressure at the injector rail. Or wait until the new pumps are installed and then test.
