Re: alloy bufkin pipe
Hi guys. Called in the machine Shop to check on manufacture progress. They had been short on small diameter brass.
Have now got some and machining will start soon.
Following my contacts holidays.
Just thought I would give you all a update.

Can someone point me in the direction that I can get one of these from Poland? Thanks! Will

And that's when the fun begins....
My Bufkin story started about 6 years ago after dropping the RS off for a MOT & casually mentioning to the garage guys, just as an afterthought, "Oh, while you've got her in, just have a quick look around for a minor coolant leak as I'm losing just a drop every few hundred miles or so, no biggie..."
Ended up 6 weeks later with a not insubstantial bill including new hybrid turbos, race dp's, new head gaskets etc. etc. coz, may as well when the engine's out innit...oh, and a 5 quid Bufkin pipe
I've heard rumours that Grizz at Unit 20 can change the pipe without an engine pull but it's a big ask.
Good luck

Mikeklien. I am at unit 20 now for 2 days. I will ask grizz if this can be done.
Ps I chased up the machine Shop last week to see how they are getting on with the bufkin pipes.
Waiting to hear from them.

Re: alloy bufkin pipe
Mines going to qst in Hayward’s Heath for the bufkin pipe to be replaced, when the parts arrive ( on back order obviously). Kim Collins at qst says they will be doing it with the engine in.

That’s great to know.
Bit of a boost knowing the engine can remain in situ.

Re: alloy bufkin pipe
Just to confirm. Grizz at unit 20 informs me that they change the bufkin pipe without removing the engine.
Also called in at the machine Shop. The brass bufkin pipes x12 will be manufactured next week.
They have been waiting for the boss to go on holiday so that he doesn’t know anything about them.

Somewhere, there's some instructions on how to do it engine in, I am sure I have read them. And then took the engine out anyway..

Re: alloy bufkin pipe
I did mine with engine in, just make sure when you get to the hex bolts on the oil filter/cooler housing you’ve got a good quality Allen key socket because their usually very tight and you don’t want to round them off !!! If you do engine is coming out.
Re: alloy bufkin pipe
I rounded a Torx bolt off earlier in the week. Fortunately access was good so drilled it a bit to clean it up and then sacrificed a hex bit to broach a new hex in to it. Got away with it - if that had failed it would have been major disassembly.
