Post by BRETTCOLLINS » Mon Jan 09, 2006 3:18 pm

Has anyone fitted a Wideband AFR air fuel gauge to an S4 or RS4?

Not a direct help, but I fitted the AEM unit to my TT - great bit of kit and very accurate...

I dont have the gauge but I use a LM-1 AF logger. The boost gauge is the only one I wanted to install and I dont even have time to look at it when I go WOT on normal roads. I bet you'll have trouble trying to take a look at the AF gauge too.

Good thing about the LM-1 is that you can get an kit with which has lots of other data also. check innovative lm-1 from google. they have also an gauge kit which is a bit cheaper.

Given all the mods on the car (the TT that is - 2.1 conversion, injectors, air flow stuff, fueling) I thought it wasn't a bad idea to at least have some flashing lights that would go red if something bad was happening ;-) But I wanted it in real time - I didn't want to be able to review how lean we'd gone after the engine had gone bang!

To true. But not that easy to fit to a V6 engine. 2 downpipies.

I still have some trust on motronic7 to cut boost or throttle or add fuel if things start to look too wild, which they have a couple of times ; )

But nothing wrong in having an extra red light to come up when passing a trigger value.

True but the motronic 7 management is only as good as the REMAP it is running. Widebang AFR won't lie. if the car is running lean at any rev you will know.

Gotta say I think the AEM is more OEM looking with its red LED display....

Good point. How did you get round the two downpipe issue that ruled the AEM out in your mind?

And how will you live without a swinging LED gauge ;-)

Have swinging LED AFR gauge on my Rover 220 Convertible Turbo, So won't miss out LOL. As for the 2 downpipes on the S4, taping in the exhaust where the system meets just before the first box.
