Adaptive headlamps are definately an option for C6's

Look for 8Q5 on the build Sticker in your boot or your service book:

PRCode: 8Q5 = Headlight-range adjustment automatic/ dynamic with dynamic bending light (AFS 1)
Well done that man!

Or check the build Sticker, someone may know the codes to look for.
We await your answer.....

I am not sure why are we thinking they are an option when the UK Audi brochure has them listed as standard spec...I am confused, but it doesn't take much these days tbh lol.

I did check the book, not "that Book" Golfather,...and yes it has that 8Q5 code listed. :)

So you need diagnostics run then, VCDS or dealer as noted above.

Maybe standard on FL models but option on pre-FL? Mine's pre FL and has them

I'm sure I recall they start working above 20mph?

I can definitely tell mine are working when driving around non well lit areas (obvious to see), I wasn't aware mine had it until after I had bought and driven. The selling dealer didn't know..

OK- You might be right then Don, yes the brochure is Oct 2009.

I think I expected too much from my Audi dealer, as they were unable to give me any convincing answers, and even tried telling me that I was getting confused with "cornering lights" which is something that I know is not there, as we have air intakes instead of separate front foglights.

All the C6 headlights I have worked on have them.

Tell tail sign that's fast, open bonnet, remove the cover from the front panel to the bumper (wont be any screws) and look at the side of the headlight, there will/should be a black box attached to the headlight.

As Ian says, its hard to notice them moving but when driving if you move to the right then only the right will move, when going left the left one moves, not as obvious on standard headlights as they are crap to say the least.

It’s quite easy to see if the lights are adaptive if you take the cover off where the main h2s bulb is located there should be a motor on that unit looks like a screw thread if that’s there there adaptive you can actually set the headlights to turn with Ross tech which puts them on a showroom setting which allows the headlights to turn when stationary failing that I think it kicks in about 15 miles an hour
Your headlights may have been changed as replacements with the bi xenon are roughly a £1000 each if you can take a pic of the rear of the headlamp with the cover off Ie inside I’ll tell you straight away there’s also a couple of plastic swivel fittings that get brittle and snap which obvously render the bi xenon inoperable
Hope this helps cheers

I complained to Audi. It had the desired sobering effect for the main dealer. They have discovered a whole new bunch of diagnostics to be done, and confirmed adaptive lights fitted. They have booked the car in for a few days.

Service wise a lot has changed since that banking caused recession I feel. Corners being cut all over the place these days.

Yes, they're difficult to detect when driving - even when looking for the movement I only see it in a couple of places during my daily commute and then it's only a suggestion of movement rather than something obvious.

If you get the Trups quad upgrade you can not miss the lights moving. In fact a few times I have caught myself looking at the movement of the light rather than looking at the road ahead. :bigblink:

It has Trups headlight upgrade from a previous owner on here, I am hoping that isn't the cause of the malfunction tbh. Both rear number plate lights also are a little temperamental, as is one of the overhead reading lights. All were replaced together. Could just be coincidence however.

if there was a fault with the adaptive system there would be an error.

I think the queries have all been covered. I’ll add...

- the cornering sweep of the lights occurs at any speed above +10kph
- if this module fails the errror on the dash states ‘adaptive light defective’ or at least very similar wording.
