that's all dependant on the quality of the suit. if indeed it is a PVC gimp suit then vaseline will be fine but a genuine rubber gimp suit should not be lubricated with vaseline, or indeed any petrolium based lubricant as the petrol content will rot the rubber sure as eggs are eggs.
that's why you should never lubricate "o" rings and seals with vaseline, they should always be lubricated with the medium that they will be sealing

Absolutely spot-on. Most natural rubbers will be attacked by any petrochemical-based product. Best thing for rubber or latex is a silicon based oil/grease or water based lubricant such as K-Y jelly (depending on the application).shineydave wrote:that's all dependant on the quality of the suit. if indeed it is a PVC gimp suit then vaseline will be fine but a genuine rubber gimp suit should not be lubricated with vaseline, or indeed any petrolium based lubricant as the petrol content will rot the rubber sure as eggs are eggs.

Talcum powder (the cosmetic/baby type) is also bad for latex as it contains compounds that can attack the rubber and/or support bacteria/yeast growth. You should use French chalk instead.

engine will be seriousley affected if you let loose all the coagulated burnt sh1t in .... dont forget the turbos bearing surface is supported by oil ..... at a thickness of mere thou's.......MarkB wrote: The only way I would flush an engine is to do 2 oil changes close together. If any of our engines are in this sort of state then I'd be expecting a large bill before long...
looks like dave's had a few oil changes in his rubbergimp suit before now~shineydave wrote: should always be lubricated with the medium that they will be sealing
