Yes, it's a common fault. There is a fix for it as per a tech bulletin. I'll PM you it if I can.

is it anything to do with servicing the a/c ? mine mists a little after i swtitch back to normal air , i think its residual moisture which soon goes with the blowers on

I should say big thanks to Grant who forwarded me the details already - my 03 RS6 is affected. I should check the windscreen drain holes though.

I notice the problem on particularly wet days, after a relatively short journey ... I'm confident that it's the solar roof fix I need, however, my local Audi dealership quoted just under 500 pounds, so it's dropped a bit down the list of things to do - tyres and brakes first. I did have the aircon serviced and deodorised, which sorted out the whiffy air, and helps clear the condensation if it turns up!!

The whiffy smell for me was sorted out by a can of household deodoriser and a new pollen filter. Not come back since.

Watch the dodgy buggers in the stealers, they told me that my AC was smelling and that it need re-gassing. I asked them what re gassing was going to do, they fed me some bollox, at which point i told them i was an AC engineer, and miraculously they just deoderised it for free.......
It's all Bollox.
