Re: Breakdown
No Ben. Still the old fuel tank pump.
It’s probably finally packed up.

Re: Breakdown
Sounds like it. Try not to get too depressed. Have some more weird pizza and wash it down with a decent whisky.

Re: Breakdown
That was a special mixed kebab Ben.
It went down really nicely.
As did the scotch.
Watched a video on how to change the in tank fuel pump. Think I will pass on that one.
Need to get some help.

Re: Breakdown
I replaced the in-tank pump in my Volvo. It was an utter ball ache of a job. All the interior had to come out from behind the front seats.
I think the RS6 will be easier.

Re: Breakdown
Yes mate. Access is under the rear seat.
Only other thing I can think of is a duff fuel pressure regulator ?
Still unable to start the car. Hopefully get some help today.
No one turned up yesterday.

Re: Breakdown
Or fuel pump relay perhaps?
Re: Breakdown
Yeah, could be a duff fuel regulator. But it sounds more like your external pump is cavitating which would imply an upstream problem rather than a downstream problem.

Re: Breakdown
Maybe. I don't think so given the preceding symptoms. It's quite easy to check though.

Yep - this is the culprit in my opinion…Shoppinit wrote:Yeah, could be a duff fuel regulator. But it sounds more like your external pump is cavitating which would imply an upstream problem rather than a downstream problem.

Re: Breakdown
Came across this.
Anyone know its location.
IMO it’s too cheap. Will look for a OEM One.

Re: Breakdown
Engine bay just before the fuel rail for the injectors.

Re: Breakdown
In my experience they rarely go bad. The plastic filter can break but it still functions if broken. I recently change the O rings as a precaution, which is a kit for a couple of quid. Mine is from 2004 and the O rings were in good shape.steve2003rs6 wrote:

Just make sure you buy the 4.0 bar version as other versions exist. The pressure is stamped into the body.
Here in my picture, you can see both the Bosch and Audi part numbers

Re: Breakdown
As Ben has mentioned, it’s on the fuel rail (circled).
Pretty easy job to change once the airbox has been removed. Remember to release the fuel pressure otherwise you will get an eye full

Re: Breakdown
Cheers Ben/craig.
The one I am about to order is 4 bar rated.
If it is faulty then I have it available.
If it’s not faulty then it will be replaced during next full service.
