It’s weird that you’ve got the same problem on both pumps. I don’t believe much in coincidences.

The pump noise might be cavitation.

How old is your fuel filter?

I wonder if there’s a tank ventilation issue. I had a problem like that with my M3 E36. Long time ago. Try driving the car with the fuel filler cap off to test.

Brand new filter installed at the same time as the replacement pump.
Will remove the fuel cap Ben.

It might throw a code without the fuel cap on. It’s just to see what happens. If there’s a difference.

Some of the code readers have an EVAP Check thingy. Worth trying that?

This is the error message.
On start up uneven revs and an intermittent noise that you can hear while sat in the cabin.

I am wondering if it’s the pump inside the fuel tank.
At the moment it’s settled down and even revs and no noise.

Yeah, if the lifter pump isn’t feeding properly that could cause the main pump to be starved. Good job you’ve got a spare in-tank pump now. :)

I’m not familiar with that error code. I’m going to look it up.

Or maybe there is an air leak between the pumps and the main pump is drawing in air. Doesn’t seem particularly likely.

Just driven 100 yards. Started off ok then Jumpy and uneven.
Pressing down on accelerator no increase in speed.
Just managed to get back home.

That's without the fuel tank cap?

The more I think about it, the more I think it might be the lifter pump in the tank.

Did you keep the original external fuel pump?

I'd probably disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and try again in an hour. Give it time to think about what it's done.

Is this with the new pump in the tank?
