Need a replacement ABS module
Need a replacement ABS module
My ABS module was sent away for refurbishment due to ongoing issues, and they have come back and said it's beyond repair. They said it has previously been repaired once before. So I'm on the hunt for a 2nd hand or refurbished unit part ref '4B0614517AD'. If anyone by chance has one or know of someone that might, let me know or send me a DM.
The car is in with an Audi specialist at the moment and they sent the module away to a company they use frequently and it's the first time they've not been able to repair one (typical! - didn't catch the name of the ABS repair company).

Whole page of them here. A few look similar.

There's 3 that look visually similar on the passat page as well:

Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Thanks bud, I think they offer a refurbishment service rather than the actual replacement part?
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
You could contact Ecu Testing and ask them if they can repair one that has already been repaired. They also may be able to tell you whether the ones that look the same are the same and are interchangeable. If they are that gives you a bigger pool of used ones to access.
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Yeah I'll try contact them and see what they say. Have you had any dealings with them in the past?
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
No but I think others have used them before and found them ok.

Re: Need a replacement ABS module
I used "ecu testing" for three abs pump on my Rs6 and they were fab. Also used them for a bmw and they solved that one too.
Their website is also very good. Have a look because I'm sure they not only refurbish your sent in unit but they also sell refurbished replacements.
Have a look on their website. They are defo worth a call

Re: Need a replacement ABS module
That's good to know, thanks. I've contacted ECU testing and I'm going to speak with the garage in the morning to get some more details on the faulty unit.
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Another positive for ECU testing, they repaired my ABS module too
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
I spoke with the garage this morning and they did in fact send it to ECU testing. They didn't have a suitable replacement either unfortunately. There's some reassurance knowing ECU testing looked at it. So after much digging, I managed to find a second hand unit from a breaker sold in working condition. The part should arrive mid week for fitting so fingers crossed.
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Forgot to mention, I also received a quote for a special order new unit from Germany for the princely sum of £3,300.00
Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Until guys figured out the coding for the ABS to work with the 6spd manual there were some guys that used a Passat unit so there must be one around the same year that is pretty close, if they got it work with the 6spd they can probably get it to work with the crappy ZF 5HP.

Hi ALE RS6
Would you be able to update how this went ? It looks like I’m in exactly the same situation, about to send my abs unit same part no as yours to Ecu testing, after already had it tested at Actronics who passed it but the 39 fault code still kicks in and dash lights up.
Did you resolve yours ? Are you considering a remanufscured part - which I understand needs recoding if it’s not the original one in the car ?
I’d be very grateful for any help and will keep posting on this thread my own findings.

Re: Need a replacement ABS module
Gentlemen, take this with a grain of salt and maybe even some humor, but let me tell you how I fixed my "ABS issue" right before I was about to ship out the entire unit for repairs.
I was getting a random/reoccurring G200 error (yaw sensor), even after replacing that sensor twice with a new one. I couldn't drive the car more than 30-40 miles before the same error would come up again and light up the ABS idiot light in the cluster. I was really at my wit's end until, just for kicks, I sprayed the ABS large connector that plugs into the the ABS unit with a generous amount of contact cleaner. Well, what do you know: 800 miles later the error has not reoccurred: it must have been a simple pin connection issue.
I am not saying this is the fix to all ABS sensor errors but perhaps this is something you may want to try and see if the issue goes away. In my case I guess I got lucky. Give it it a shot and hope you get lucky, too.
