Diffuser removal
Anyone done it without taking the bumper off?
I can get the outer edges out but can’t budge the more central set of clips and really don’t want to force it anymore than I currently am
Any tips or photos or videos!?

Can be done 'ive heard' but really suggest you take the bumper off for a proper job and no risk of breaking any tabs especially in this colder weather
Re: Diffuser removal
I did it on my S6 C7 once, it is doable (and i have the folded towhook). If you have a long prim tool you might be able to unclip them but like pointed out with these colder temps don't force it too much.
Haven't taken of the rs diffuser yet, but if i recall correct it is the same principle/clips, that time i fully took off the bumper...

Re: Diffuser removal
I tired but failed. Ended up taking the bumper off; much quicker in the end than all the time I spent trying to avoid taking it off.

Re: Diffuser removal
Got it.. in which case anyone know if there’s a guide or a sticky to taking the bumper off?
Re: Diffuser removal
I will have a look later. Actually I think I followed the instruction in the manual. As a quick summary from memory it goes a little something like this :
Undi the 3 torx screws at the rear of the rear wheel arch. Can do it without removing wheels. I think I found it easier to grt a ratchet in there by jacking the car up slightly.
Undo the 3 bolts at the bottom of tbe diffuser.
remove rear tail lights and pull out a plastic pin.
There is an electrical plug that needs to be unplugged if you are removing the bumper completely. It can be found in the right hand side boot cover access hatch.
Then you basically pull if from each side by the rear wheel. Once each side has popped out you can slide it out backwards.

Re: Diffuser removal
You just need to ease it out applying equal force along each clip I did it a few times. No need to remove bumper.

Re: Diffuser removal
But how do you mean? Are you inserting anything to pop open a clip or literally just pulling?
Re: Diffuser removal
Used a trim removal tool and then start forcing it out - you may find that small stones have got lodged inside with the clips which is a bit of a pain. It’s a two man job though.

Re: Diffuser removal
Indeed use a long trim removal tool to try push the retainer clips open and sometimes it helps if you can push the diffuser clip softly while you push the entire diffuser (ideally a two men job, but i managed to do it myself alone). Again be carefull now it is cold, might want to spray some wd40 onto the clips.

Re: Diffuser removal
When you say push the clips softly do you mean form the other side? It’s a pretty tight fit between bumper and diffuser so not sure I can do much more than try and get a tool into the right place and pull
Re: Diffuser removal
No i meant from under the car...since you can't really pull the diffusor at the clip from the outside it helped me a little when i pushed the tabes of the diffusor so they come loose of the clips once they are opened. But i admite the once in the center are hard since you almost can't reach them.

Re: Diffuser removal
So can confirm it’s possible but it’s a total pain in the arse!
Re: Diffuser removal
I told you. Been where you are, tried for ages then eventually decided to remove bumper and it was much easier and took less time than all the time spent trying to do it without removing bumper.DaytonaMatt wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 2:18 pmSo can confirm it’s possible but it’s a total pain in the arse!
