It'll be similar to the RS4. Plug one inlet, put a pressure gauge on the other one and inflate and see if it holds pressure.
If there's a boost leak it's likely to be the intercoolers. Do a visual inspection first. If they have a dark patch in the corner they are leaking. Or, even easier: if they are OE then they are leaking.
Could be hoses. Should be obvious if there is damage.
Have you got a Vagcom? You should log the boost you're requesting and achieving. That will give some pointers.

Some garages have boost leak testers now where they compress the system with a gas mixed with uv solvent and then use a uv light to identify the smallest of leaks.
Cost me £50 last time and took 20 minutes.

So am I right in saying that to do a boost check through Vagcom Its 3rd gear and rev to 6000rpm and log and results should give an indication where the leak is ?Shoppinit wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:33 pmIt'll be similar to the RS4. I had mine checked at a garage and did show a boost leak but was supposed to go back for a smoke test but everytime I've phoned him he won't answer !!!
Can't seem to find anyone with a good RS6 mechanic locally.
Is it best to get a garage to test or try and find the leak myself with Vagcom?
Never done a test before .

Best to log boost and mafs when driving in different conditions. The car will never ask for boost with no load, i.e. In neutral. I'll try to post some logs up so you can see what I mean.

Steveo, I am in South West Scotland, Ayrshire.
Re: rs6 c5 how to do a boost leak test ?
There has always been lots of RS's in Scotland, presumably because of the oil industry.
Put up a new post asking for recommendations for a decent mechanic near(ish) to you. There must be some
