Rattling AC compressor

AC compressor is rattling when ECON is turned off, perfectly quite when turned on.
Just accidently turned it off and sounded just like timing chains being slack at first, heart stopped beating for a min
Not planning on fixing it as long as it doesnt sound bad when engaged as im never using it off anyway, but i guess the engine has
come out for this one aswell, would be my 4th time in that case

Anyone else experienced it? shouldnt it be like the other way?

It won't be the compressor if the noise is when it's switched off, it'll be the clutch on the compressor pulley. As long as there's room to get the specific puller in place it should be possible to change it without dropping the engine.
If you always use the AC the clutch will run for ages (because it's always engaged) so it's probably not urgent.
