Milltek help

Post by J66kco » Sun Jun 04, 2017 9:22 am

Had milltek cat back fitted yesterday and although i love the sound the exhaust is producing, there is a knocking when on bumpy roads. I have today jacked car up and can see the front section (mesh type part) on drivers side is virtually touching the bottom corner of the gearbox. The flange is bolted perfectly aligned to the cat, so can't see how it can be adjusted. Has anyone else seen this or got a picture of where front section joins cat from under car when there's was fitted?

100% sure it is that part that is causing the knocking?
I suppose in your case it is that, but for what it is worth...altough S6 avant here....on mine the problem was on the rear. The left exhaust pipe almost touches one of the side cross brace in the last section of exhaust. Never know it is also that...or combo.
If not, not sure how your issue can be fixed.

Front section as been manufactured wrong, flange welded at wrong angel resulting in the pipe touching gear box.

I had a slight knock with my milltek

Tight right hand turns...lateral movement.

Probably shitty milltek quality control.

Front section has been replaced by milltek. New section fitted to car and exactly the same issues the section sits about a 1mm away from gear box.

Contacted milltek again who said send it back and they will check it on there jig or travel 150 miles to my nearest authorised milltek fitter for them to have a look at.

I'm not happy with there response so have contacted supplier to return the full system which I'm gutted to do as I love the noise the car now makes.

Now looking at following a few on here and have front boxes removed for the sports exhaust.

Milltek is going back

Only a couple of exhaust fabricators in Cumbria which I've phoned today. Neither filled me with confidence regarding removal of front and middle boxes!!

Can you recommend anywhere in north east?

Bit odd that both exhausts didn't fit good, wild guess, but maybe one OEM downpipe is not perfect and the issue is there instead of the milltek?
Again, wild guess.....

I thought the same but the OEM sports exhaust fits perfectly in the centre of the channel about 30mm off the gear box

Strange one as there are obviously hundreds of cars out there running Milltek trouble free. I never had any issues with mine but admittedly I didn't check the clearance either. I doubt very much it's a design issue or Milltek would have been aware of it and redesigned it, something must be different about your particular car.
