Fixing centres dimension for front plate mount

Post by noidea » Fri Apr 21, 2017 9:32 am

Not sure if anyone can help?

I need the centre distance between the two fixings for the front number plate plinth. (B8 RS4 grille)

I am going to make my own front plate plinth to suit my 5 digit number plate and i have stuck my existing plate on with lots of sticky pads and it would be a pain to have to remove it just to measure the fixing centres.

Cheers

? Are you not going to need to remove in any case to fit plinth first?

You don't really need a plinth. I took the existing plinth off, offered it up to the shorter number plate and marked the holes then used the existing holes that the old plinth fitted to attach the shorter plate. Took 10 minutes.

I am going to machine a new one and shorten another plate first. I need to do myself a drawing and it would save having to tackle all the sticky pads twice.
Once everything is machined i will them fit.

I don't want any screws through the plate, I prefer to use sticky pads.
Could you do a quick measure for me of the screws please?

I'm thinking of screwing a decent size magnet to each fixing point on bar (magnet should be discreet enough) then gluing two suitable metal washers to back of pressed plate. Makes an easy remove and ride option ? Will post once done if my theory works
