Giving up mr RS6

I should be getting the Turbo by the end of this month. Getting excited. Sorry to see the RS6 go, but after reading more about the Porsche, I think I am going to enjoy it as much as I did the RS6.
And I dont think you have to be over 50 to drive one

I wasn't looking at the rs6 performance stats - I compared with the regular rs6. That explains that

My RS6 is going. It is coming up to three years old and its been the perfect car.
I was so so close to getting the RS6 performance, or the S8 performance, but despite my best efforts, I could not get a demo from anywhere, or if I could, it was just for a 30 min spin. I therefore have left the brand, which is a real shame.
However, I am now getting very excited about my new car that should be arriving shortly. A Panamera Turbo. Porsche gave me a demo car for 24 hrs no peoblem and I loved it . I think I will have the best of both worlds, the performance of the RS, but a bit more comfort like a Merc.
Couldnt wait for the Turismo version, so the dogs will just have to squeeze into the hatchback.
I hope Ive done the right thing and wont have regrets in a few months

Shame on you, Rs6 nice car, keep in mind that you will be demolished by a Rs6 from a stand still with your other choice

Shame on you, clearly a tad too much of a fanboi. Yes the C7 RS6 is a great car, but thinking one's better than the Panamera Turbo is a tad optimistic at the very least. As for performance, it's safe to say the RS6 has 0 chance of demolishing the Panamera.

Panamera is very heavy. Turbo is 50kg on top of the already very heavy RS6. Looks are better than the gen1 but that is not saying much. Much prefer the wider, more aggressive stance of the RS6. New Panny gets spanked by the RS cars. Handling and interior obviously go to the Porsche but imo their infotainment still sucks. Sayin' having to go into menus to move your central vents...

Have you tried the new infotainment in he Panamera? It makes Audi's look prehistoric, it's very good with controls in the rear too.

For me it, and I've only driven the 4S, handles as well as if not better than the RS6 and the PDK gearbox is superior to the ZF8.

Not sure it'd be spanked, there's more to life than a traffic light Grand Prix. At best it'd be marginal.

Can't see there being any contest against Turbo S if that's your thing.

As Paul has said there's more to life than the RS6 which if we're all honest is getting on a bit now, with C8 around the corner. It was a great car but the game is continually moving on. Small news flash, there are faster cars!

And the trump card, you're far less likely to be treated like a <beep> by the Porsche dealership network.

Strangely what this vid shows are repeated quick launches and good times by the RS6, c.f. some poor/failed launches by the Panamera (does it have a problem from a standing start) and a claimed quickest 1/4 mile time by the Panamera, but no actual video of the car achieving it.

Yes I tried it at a dealer. Not that impressed. Didnt like the logic, nor the layout. BMW still writes the book here. Always has. Handling is a Porsche stronghold. No one tunes a chassis like Porsche.
I've had a DKG M3 for three years, driven many PDK and DSG cars. Not as good for everyday driving as the ZF8. Better when going for it 100% but compromised for daily driving.
I disagree that more than one second to 200 is marginal. That is why we buy performance cars isn't it?
Turbo S weighs 2385kg!!! My SQ7 weighs 2345. Come on. That goes against everything Porsche stands for. I am confident next RS and the E63s will accelerate faster.

Tried for a quick drive or prolonged loan? That's pretty material to deciphering the kit and the gearbox.

One second to 200? I'd not buy an RS6 or a Panamera to be doing 200 so we disagree on that. I've not seen the stats or who's they were, I'm sure another set will be along shortly which say something else.

We disagree on the gearbox I'm afraid and I've lived with both for several years.

BMW hasn't tickled me for about fifteen years.

Turbo S is hybrid, what did you expect?!

There will always be improvement but the limit must be near. Gearbox will hold back RS unless it goes away from slosh.

SQ7 is definitely one of the best cars on sale now. Crazy engine, very good handling (when equipped with the 48v shocks) it goes around corners like you would not, B52 sound, incredible refinement, good economy, most spacious interior out there, Audi fit and finish. No looker but neither is the Panny. Just came back from a 400km drive going up to 240km/h and constantly cruising at 210...its like I never left the house. ZF8 still the best tranny out there...

Unfortunately it doesn't fit Audi's new dieaseless future....

And it's not for me. It's diesel. No. Nearly as bad as the current penchant for three cylinder engines.

ZF8 may be the best all rounder for a massive cross section of the market. It's jack of all, master of none. It's definitely not the best out there!

I had a SQ7 all day last week and it left me totally cold

Few weeks before I had brand new Cayenne V8 diesel. More involving to drive and nicer place to be inside

I'm supposed to have new panny 4s diesel for 24hrs soon which I'm really looking forward to.

Audi will be pleased you like it. Underneath the Porsche skin, it's their system, after all.. It's not even Audi's latest system, it's actually the same one as in the current RS6. Audi has moved on to the next generation MMI now (well, half generation). You will see that in the A8/A6 later this year.

Clearly it's not actually Audi's either it's some generic hardware with some software on top.

System is from Hardon, IIRC. Audi is the specifier for it - no other user of MIB has the financial clout to develop an MMI from scratch. SW is adapted by each manufacturer to their own car, but none stray far from the core Audi system. After many hours spent with the Porsche system, so far all I have noticed that is better than the RS6 implementation is that is handles the "Album Artist" tag correctly in music files, and it's got the next-generation voice activation, which has been cropping up in various Audis for a couple of years, now. Certainly, the Panamera system isn't as well developed or functionally rich as the Q7 implementation. Widescreen is snazzy, though still quite lo-res, but good enough for what it is used for.
