Going from auto to paddles and keeping with paddles

Post by Shaneyboi88 » Tue Oct 18, 2016 9:58 pm

Ive test drove some rs6 and looking to buy one. When ive changed from auto to manual (paddles) if im not chaging gear frequent enough it goes bk to auto. Is there any way to stop this so if i want it just stays with the paddles ? Thanks

Not that I know of (although I'm happy to be corrected) - as I understand things, the standard software is set to revert to auto mode if you haven't changed gear again after a period (20secs?) and will override your request to change up if the revs are too low or to change down if the revs are too high. It'll also change up for you if the revs are too high when you're changing manually.
Having said that, 30+ years experience in software development and support says that your results may vary from mine.

Don't you move the gear lever to the left to put it into full manual mode that doesn't go back to drive?

Correct - if it's in D and you use paddles it'll revert after set time with no paddle use. To keep it in manual you need to knock the lever across. Whenever I drive one, if I override the gears with the paddles and then want to revert to D I just knock it over to manual and straight back into D.

S will sharpen throttle response and make it hold onto gears for longer, but is still an auto mode, plus you can't knock it across into manual without going back into D first

Worth noting that C6 will not bounce on the limiter in manual, it'll change up.

Yes, has to be in M to stay on the paddles. Never used to use the paddles until I had the gearbox remap, it raises the limiter and now you can shift between gears better whereas before it just used to go through gears far too quickly there was no way I could of been quicker, that was a MTM map with no gearbox software tho
