oil cooler fabrication

would it be possible to pick up the oil cooler lines and chop them and fit the -12 type connectors somewhere along them?
I got shut of my old oil cooler a while back for £100 I think - the connectors on the pipes at engine end looked ok...

yes,exactly that-and fit a generic cooler-or even a modded standard one with ends to suit normal fittings-saves the relocation etc..
a repair for a little fabrication,two lengths of hose and a handfull of an12 fittings,future proofs the car too

keep an eye out on here /ebay as oil coolers/pipes come up now and again in the classifieds...
or put a wanted post up.
Lots of AN12 adapters on ebay to look at to see which will fit the OE pipes...

hi-i think thats why most folk do it-quick cure,i wouldnt buy a used cooler for my car tbh but if you want to chop off the engine ends of the pipes leaving a few inches and sell me that bit to experiment with i would happily buy if cheap enough...

I was going to go down the universal Setrab route and managed to find some rare male to male m22 ends to mate to the OE hoses but bought a Radtec cooler in the end which is a direct fit.

cheers for the links-the o/e hoses seem to be the weak link,and the fact that they dont come off the standard cooler very well
most folk[even a tight git like me] wouldnt mind replacing a pair of hoses every 5 years or more but on top of a cooler it becomes an expensive task...

Hi arthur.. It was me who bought mikep's old oil cooler and lines.
I cut off both ends on the old oil cooler and welded dash 12(an12)male alu ends on. 6£ each, did the same to the pipe ends that fits in to the sump but in steel of course..
Then its just a matter of buing 2,5-3 m of black nylon braided hose and a few fittings.. 1 x strait male and so on.
Its a good kit that works and is pretty cheap, if your handy with spanners of course.

schacks - what fittings did you buy for yours ? and other parts to make your kit ?

was it a success ?

going to cut my old ones off my cooler and weld on new and make new lines up myself .. i think i could do it all for less than 100 quid

I made these out of the old pipes/fittings an now use 1/2” bsp allround.
