Ceramic disk refurbishment. Does this help?

Don't know if this helps anyone but a guy on the M3 forum has posted up about ceramic disc refurbishment at £700 approx per disc. Brings them like new allegedly.

I understand with the warping of the steel brakes, but why would you need Ceramics skimmed?

But if they needed replacing then you'd need to replace them?

I thought that Ceramic discs were weighed and measured to determine whether they needed replacing,
so if they needed to be replaced then there wouldn't be enough ceramic material to skim?

Any ideas anyone?

I don't really know a Lot about ceramics but apparently this refurb process means they can go again

The process SICOM use (which is the company shown on the M3 Forum, is to skim the surface from the disc, and then relayer it with a new surface. It's the top layer on a Carbon Ceramic disc that provides the performance, the rest of the disc material is just there for weight saving and better heat dissipation. The cracks you see on a lot of CC discs is the surface finish and not usually the disc itself. If you crack the disc itself, it's funked, but the surface can be redone is my understanding
