True it's not fool proof and you'd be unlucky if it happened to get nicked whilst on a flight, but also the last flight I was on had wifiboff wrote:Cool plan, but what if that happens whilst you are inflight?

Leave a big <beep> on the dash board

On a serious note there has been no mention of lasers yet, which upon reflection i find most disappointing.
Zero Drama
Re: OBD Port Car Theft
I fitted a system to my B8 RS4 to stop this as my car is parked on the drive. It is basically a GPS tracker that cuts the starter circuit and only closes the circuit and allows the vehicle to be started once a wireless tag is in the car.
I keep the tag separate to my car keys and the car doesn't start without the tag! It works a treat! Even if they strip the car and remove the tracker (which would take hours) the car still won't start!
They came to my work to fit the system in around 2 hours....helps me sleep at night!

I like the sound of this, can you give us some more info on price and who fits them
Re: OBD Port Car Theft
If you forget about the GPS bit its just a bog standard immobiliser that we all used to have on our cars 20 years ago before the manufacturers started building the immobiliser transponder into the key.
Who remembers the Vecta immobiliser? I was a trained installer for them and you couldnt get insurance on a Cosworth without one back in the day. Clever immobiliser mainly due to the way they taught us to install and cut vital circuits like the power to the ECU, feed to the starter relay, fuel pump and even headlights as most cars were stolen at night and that would bring more attention from the police if seen driving at night. You could also wire the horn to the starter switch so if anybody tried turning the key (or screwdriver) while the immobiliser was active it would sound the horn.

Yup, I remember Vecta. It was the upside down triangle window sticker wasn't it? They were fitted to Cossies and higher end cars. I had the Clifford immobiliser on my car, which was a version that worked via a jellybean transponder on my key ring that you didn't have to plug into the dash.MikeFish wrote:If you forget about the GPS bit its just a bog standard immobiliser that we all used to have on our cars 20 years ago before the manufacturers started building the immobiliser transponder into the key.

I had that as well as a TOAD alarm.

I had a sapphire cosworth. It had a little circular fob with three metal studs in it that you pushed into a receiver on the steering column before you could start itkmpowell wrote:Yup, I remember Vecta.
