Tyre load rating dvice for those gone from 19 to 20
Tyre load rating dvice for those gone from 19 to 20
Hey guys
My B7 OEM tyres were 96Y rated on the 255/35/19 however now going up to 20" wheels, I can't seem to find tyres higher than 92Y on 255/30/20
Or best I've found on 265/30/20 are 94Y
What have those you of you who have gone from 19" to 20" opted for?
Cheers
Nils

I 'think' the I've run a Yokohama 265/35/r20 with a 99Y. Quite a rounded tyre so they fit ok, if memory serves me. Best try some test fit/measuring.
I've also tracked GY F1s 255/35/r20 94Y stretched on 20x9.5s - they were actually really good and my car is probably heavier than yours.

No matter where you go, there you are.

I'm hoping to go 255/30/20 on my 9j wheels so that's good to hear, I don't track mine either

I run 92y on my 20".......no issues
Re: Tyre load rating dvice for those gone from 19 to 20
Had the exact same dilemma on my c6 when i switched 19 to 20's. I'm running 255/30/20 on a 92y for a year now with no issues, my c6 must be way heavier so can't see a problem
Re: Tyre load rating dvice for those gone from 19 to 20
I thought the C6 ran 275 section, why you running 255s?

I'm running 92Y XL on mine.
Re: Tyre load rating dvice for those gone from 19 to 20
I'm running 265/30/20 94Y for two reasons, like you I can only find 92Y tyre load rating on 255/30 tyres and the 265/30s are a little closer at 94Y. Secondly, the speedometer reads more accurate with 265/30s.

Bam, I think he is saying it's not an RS6 .
Too much power is barely enough.

Yeah. Hence my "ahhh". It's funny how we all just assume any post is referring to an RS.

My last set of tyres were 265/30/20and 94Y like you. But why do you say they are more accurate? 255/30/20 will read exactly the same as OEM tyres but 265 will introduce a slight error due to the size difference. Are you saying the OEM tyres are not the most accurate size?nij wrote:I'm running 265/30/20 94Y for two reasons, like you I can only find 92Y tyre load rating on 255/30 tyres and the 265/30s are a little closer at 94Y. I know the gearing will be slightly out, but what I ment was more accurate to the true speed you're travelling. Almost all speedos under read by about 10%, therefore when it reads 30mph, you're only really travelling at about 27mph. If you ever pass one of those "Your Speed" signs, you'll know what I mean. You could also check your Sat Nav speed in "Engineer Mode" in your RNS-E, which is more accurate and it isn't affected by tyre wear.MikeFish wrote:My last set of tyres were 265/30/20and 94Y like you.
