You can. It's called Drive or Sport - D = Off and S = On. That's how it works in mine (but you can fiddle, I rarely do now) It's Individual or Dynamic = Comfy vs Sporty.

Incidentally there's a good thread at viewtopic.php?t=93014 on the exhaust valves (for the B7 but still relevant for the B8).

I used a small plastic crimp (used for sealing food in bags) on the hose instead of removing and plugging and this works fine (confirmed by visually checking the flaps in comfort mode - flaps open with crimp on and closed with crimp off after starting the engine). However, is this OK since the hose is still attached to the solenoid? Photo hopefully shows the hose crimped. This is a quicker method of restoring normal functionality if required for long family trips.

I did this on my TTRS for 20k miles and no issues apart from annoyed neighbours.

Am i missing something, I have this set up in my individual settings and it seems to be louder all the time by selecting the exhaust to "Dynamic".

In the full on everything "Dynamic" setting i presumed it just appeared louder as the car always selects a lower gear hence higher revs?

Even in Dynamic/Individual mode (with Dynamic Exhaust selected) the car will start with the flaps closed. Once you select S it will be loud and then if you revert back to D it will still be loud.

just clamped mine, flaps open all the time. however they also stay open by having individual engine set to dynamic, exhaust to dynamic,on start up flick gear lever into s for a second flick it again back into d and the flaps stay open. Ive been for a mixed run and on my car it sounds exactly the same regardless of whever flaps have been clamped open or kept open by the settings on drive select, am i missing something why clamp them open when you can control it from the dash ?

I have just looked at the posting about the B7 rs4 flaps, from what i can hear on my car the flaps once open stay open regardless of revs or gear selected, there is no difference in sound with drive select keeping them open which if the system was similar to the b7 they would be opening and closing dependent on gear/ revs or the clamp keeping them open regardless of gear / revs ? Different system or a fault?

Do I need to select sport mode before selecting manual mode (i.e. before pushing the gear lever left)? I always thought manual gearbox mode selected sport mode as well? Or, more accurately, that sport mode only has an effect in auto gearbox mode (holds gears for longer and blips more on downshifts).

(I have the exhaust setting at "dynamic" in the menus.)

I haven't checked but I an pretty sure choosing manual doesn't effect the exhaust/put it in sports mode.

You need to select sport before manual to open them.

On my car sport = open - reselecting drive closes them. I have to go to another drive select then back to individual which I leave as engine sound - dynamic.

Then press the passenger heated seat on and off twice and it goes super loud. Audis Easter Egg.

Is that a joke or real?
