I'm collecting 11am on Friday, gonna a be a long afternoon in work after that! :D

They say they can register the car on my plate straight from the retention certificate. I thought they couldn't do that anymore? But I'm not going to question, so long as it's done.

Yes but not over the counter with same day immediate effect - it has to be posted away now, hence delays picking up your new motor

Maybe its different for a new vehicle? On a new car I guess they screw the plates on and then post everything away to the DVLA

Slight thread drift, but I phoned up Audi insurance today to take out their complimentary 7 day insurance and get a quote for the full year. I was with Audi insurance on my old S4, up until 8 months ago when I changed over to BMW insurance, previously they were slightly more than others but still reasonable at around £850...

Quote for the RS4.....£3100!! Wtf :drink:

Phoned up BMW insurance who I'm with currently, although both Audi and BMW insurance are in fact Allianz, they won't even touch it without a tracker!

Compare the meerkat, £410 with Tesco, and I get a free cuddly toy! Although in the end I paid a bit more with Admiral for a lower excess.

Just for balance I should say that I had a £2.5k fault claim in October last year when a digger got in my way and I had to nudge it a bit! :bash:

Blimey, That's a lot
Mine's about £500 give or take at 38 with 5yrs NCB and 6 points (2 x sp30's)
Admiral are decent, but they charge you a fortune for every slight change
We had a multicar policy with them and tried to change my mrs's countryman from 10k a year mileage to 4k a year as she hardly drives it and thought we'd get the policy costs down and they actually wanted to put it up and then charge me an admin fee for doing it, crazy

I believe their logic is that by doing less miles you're more likely to have an accident as you're not driving enough. But then of course, they'll also raise your premium when you start to do more mileage, because you're driving more & thus more likely to have an accident. :bash:

So, where exactly are you placing those goal posts again Mr Insurer?
It's all torque talk.

Apart from my recent digger related mishap, I'm about as low risk as you could get... 38 years old, 20 years claim free, no points ever, garaged in an area of rural North Yorks where car crime is none existent.

Yet for one recent mishap Audi insurance are basically saying they don't want to insure me.

Shame really as I was with BMW insurance (Allianz) and for my claim they were brilliant. There was no 3rd party claim because I gently nudged a digger which cost a new wing and door for my car but no damage to said digger. Car was straight in to BMW dealer, I was given a brand new X1 for the duration of the repair etc etc.

So it's well worth paying a couple of hundred quid extra for Audi Insurance if you can, but not £2.5k extra!
