I agree, a quick write up would be interesting
In my experience over the last 6 months of B8 ownership, my opinion of the car and the differences of it's intricacies between B7 and B8 changed a lot between collection and now

The first 24 hours of the new B8 RS4.
I picked the car up on early Tuesday evening, I was in the dealership at 17:00 ish, Their she was under a black cloth cover ohhh! Their she is. Bering in mind id only given up my B7 10 days earlier.

I was like a school boy.

Do you want to unveil the car or get the paper work out the way? Was the question I given at the door, er ummm!!!! paper work.
So after what seemed an absolute age, we were done, the usual jokes about you did want it in yellow and you can’t have it as the tracker not working properly. Ahhhh just give me my car already.

So eventually the unveiling.

WOW. Look at that????

Then we went through the this is what that does this is what that does, mobile phone connected. Right give me my flowers and im off. 16miles on the clock.

First problem remember that your left foot is now redundant, Ho no, how embarrassing, head but the steering wheel. Right try again.
Ok were off first thing the new car is a lot quieter (my last car had a full miltek). Also a lot smoother. I keep reaching for the gear shift leaver at junctions. Looking for first.
So once home a good look over the car, Nice.

Seats, I had full leather comfort seats in the last car. These are partial leather and alcantara, I like these seat as the alcantara is like glue you don’t move in these seats there great. My only concern is how will they last over time ????.
Cockpit, this is very subjective at best as all cars are different and I’m still getting used to it. I used to like the idea of a sport button and this car doesn’t have one. To get it into sport mode I just touch the gear leaver back in drive and the gear selection on the dash changes from M to S.
Power. My last car was modified to the max all I needed was the supercharger and id have been all in. As power goes,- in the new car it feels defiantly quicker and its stock.
• Gear changes, Im loving the flappy paddles, id always been an advocate of the manual gear change, the paddles are fantastic different to the manual gear change but you still get to choose with this type of auto box. Yes im converted for this type of car, would I like them in my Atom not so sure.
Fav bits, this is what im loving at the moment
The fact I can open the boot with my fob and close it with the touch of a button.
The rear arches.
Lifting the bonnet and looking at the engine intakes, very cool.
The new car smell.
Looking at the car from the front square on.
It now has 154miles on the clock. And I wish I was in the car.
George,
B8 RS4 Avant in Ibis white. arrived 01/10/2013. (Going.)

I must have just missed you George, didn't realise it was your car under the cover. Would have took a sneaky look if I had known it was a RS4. Car is looking good.

Hahaha yeah I did this when I had a short drive in an A7. Don't think I'd ever driven an auto before, left foot kept 'looking' for the clutch as I slowed to a standstill....

Had a B8 at the MK Meet last night, even with the sport exhaust, it did seem very quiet as it parked up as you say George? (although again I'm used to a non res Milltek)

Similar spec to yours George including sports pack with 20s, tech pack with radar, super sports seats, very VERY nice indeed.

You are clearly smitten!

Hi Folks
after following another thread on the forum about Sim cards for the car I went into town this afternoon and paid a little visit to EE/ T,Mobile. and asked about the £20 Sim data only that last 6 months. and was surprised to get the answer , yes we do that still.
The Sim was free, as long as you get £20 top up. I also asked cheekily if it came with a free phone, and guess what it did, cheers easy ill have that too.
so good day all round. yes the phone is cheep but its free.
now I can switch between Google maps and standard maps, standard maps better for long dist and switch to Google maps when closer as you can recognise buildings. and now my car has its own hot spot( iv just made that up I don't actually know that).

George. :biggrin3:

Great write up George, I have always wanted to know how the B7 compares to the B8, especially as I have never been lucky enough to drive a B7. Your old car sounds a monster!! I certainly will be interested to hear how you feel especially when the 'honeymoon' period is over!

Now all you have to do is get that lame sports exhaust sorted, sounded like a Lexus SC430 when it pulled out of Revolution HQ the other night.

The car does have a hotspot! - you're not making it up - if the kids/wife etc use ipads/phones etc you can tether them to the hotspot in the car just like the wifi at home. Good for long journeys i guess (especially if like me you dont have to pay for your data !)..
Useful i suppose!
