The first 24 hours of the new B8 RS4.
I picked the car up on early Tuesday evening, I was in the dealership at 17:00 ish, Their she was under a black cloth cover ohhh! Their she is. Bering in mind id only given up my B7 10 days earlier.
I was like a school boy.
Do you want to unveil the car or get the paper work out the way? Was the question I given at the door, er ummm!!!! paper work.
So after what seemed an absolute age, we were done, the usual jokes about you did want it in yellow and you can’t have it as the tracker not working properly. Ahhhh just give me my car already.
So eventually the unveiling.
WOW. Look at that????
Then we went through the this is what that does this is what that does, mobile phone connected. Right give me my flowers and im off. 16miles on the clock.
First problem remember that your left foot is now redundant, Ho no, how embarrassing, head but the steering wheel. Right try again.
Ok were off first thing the new car is a lot quieter (my last car had a full miltek). Also a lot smoother. I keep reaching for the gear shift leaver at junctions. Looking for first.
So once home a good look over the car, Nice.
• Seats, I had full leather comfort seats in the last car. These are partial leather and alcantara, I like these seat as the alcantara is like glue you don’t move in these seats there great. My only concern is how will they last over time ????.
• Cockpit, this is very subjective at best as all cars are different and I’m still getting used to it. I used to like the idea of a sport button and this car doesn’t have one. To get it into sport mode I just touch the gear leaver back in drive and the gear selection on the dash changes from M to S.
• Power. My last car was modified to the max all I needed was the supercharger and id have been all in. As power goes,- in the new car it feels defiantly quicker and its stock.
• Gear changes, Im loving the flappy paddles, id always been an advocate of the manual gear change, the paddles are fantastic different to the manual gear change but you still get to choose with this type of auto box. Yes im converted for this type of car, would I like them in my Atom not so sure.
• Fav bits, this is what im loving at the moment
The fact I can open the boot with my fob and close it with the touch of a button.
The rear arches.
Lifting the bonnet and looking at the engine intakes, very cool.
The new car smell.
Looking at the car from the front square on.
It now has 154miles on the clock. And I wish I was in the car.
