front end fan.

Post by the6 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:40 pm

comes on full tilt on start up and continues like it all the time the car is running, when the car is off, the fan will lower in tone slowly and then run for approx 4 mins.
Its sounds like an aeroplane, not noisy but irritating. Can I do anything to stop this? I don't want to map it out (if there is such a fix) bviously fan is there for a reason....But I cant help but think its not normal?

I was going to post this. Just wasn't sure if it was supposed to do that. Every single journey it comes on, sounds like its a fighter jet spooling up.

Is your aircon on? If so the fans are in hyper mode.

Either the thermostat, the temp sender or the fan control module is borked. I'm guessing the first. Check your water temps with Vagcom or on the A/C display.

The dash gauge is fairly meaningless until the temp gets properly out of whack.

Could just be a faulty fan module.
