If they fix the box and offer a garauntee, why should I worry about how they remove/ re-install the box? Makes no odds to me!
Meh, it depends. If they rammed the gearbox into your turbos half-dozen trying to get it back in, that could cause some odds, in my book. It might have an issue not when you drive it away but it might later on. Do you think they'll honour a warranty clam for that?
I don't doubt the 'box can be removed and replaced with the engine in situ, what I do doubt, is that not everyone that claims to do it actually gives a <beep> about what they're doing.
It's like this; you've got a headache (if you're an RS6 owner, then is likely due to your car), however it turns it's a tumour, anyway, you go to your trusty doc and he says "I'm going to treat this in the way that all my peers and medical training suggests is best practice, we have to saw the top off your dome, this will give us more room in case of error and less risk should something be found", so you say "that's swell doc, book a brother in".
Now, on your way out of the doc's surgery, you overhear this:
Other doc: "yeah, I know it's not the suggested method but it's quicker, cheaper and it's guaranteed."
Other patient: "but you're talking about ripping the affected part of my brain out via my nose."
Other doc: "don't worry about that, it's cheaper."
Other patient: "but what if you don't find anything, you've not checked the whole brain."
Other doc: "don't worry about that, it'll be quicker."
Other patient: "how will brain fit back up my nose."
Other doc: "don't worry about that, I'll guarantee your brain will be fine."
Other patient: "I'm more worried about my nose..."
Do you trust your life-long family doctor or this new guy bucking the accepted method? BTW, I'm not rubbishing the method, I'm questioning the person that is recommending a particular method.
In this case, someone with a reputation would recommend the method most notable for success. I'm just saying.
No matter where you go, there you are.
