Things to look out for when buying a B7 RS4

Post by Markmyatt7 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:27 am

Just found out from a very helpful forum member that the DRC has a tendency to leak but Audi never recalled the RS4 to get it fixed. I also found out that some Audi dealerships will fix it as a good will gesture.

Is there anything else I need to look outs for when buying my first B7 RS4?

Black saloon. Thats the fastest shape and colour!

It looks like they have changed the front grill for the black optic version, and covered / changed the wondow surrounds to black too, but the alu boot strip and silver tipped exhaust says it is not a black optic car.
It looks nice. Like mine it has had the wheels sprayed in a darker than usual colour. I don't know whether the price is in line with other cars or not though, but you can check that by looking on autotrader.

Looks ok, however, it has black optic front grill and window trim, but rear boot trim is still silver, this indicates that the black optics is after market or has been wrapped. So double check that.

The wheels have been resprayed black, the wing mirrors are black however this was a factory option. If they have been wrapped, then beware that they maybe corroded underneath.

It has a Milltek so thats good (find out if its a valved as these are worth more) bonus if you want to sell the Milltek.

It looks like a early 2006 model (pre march 06 is cheaper tax).

The only thing that catches my eye is the location, its a little to close to Bradford, and we have seen some classics come out of there (esp showing wrapped optics and dark alloys). Just beware that its not a cat d or a clocked example.

Make sure the service book and MOTs all tie in with the mileage and that it has 2 sets of keys and a plastic key with plastic bar code tab. If it does not then walk.

That looks very nice, full black optic pack (black front grill, exhaust tips, roof rails and window trim). However are my eyes deceiving me, I cant figure out what blue that is?? Anyone else?

Doesn't look too bad, as others have said. Quick observations -

The privacy isn't factory fitted - it was only an option on the avant, and much darker (plus rears only)
Nankang tyres (which I'd never heard of) appear to have poor to rubbish reviews
Nasty phone cradle, and Alu interior not to everyone's taste
No Auto Dim / Light / Rain option
Front disks look to have a sizeable lip

Thank you Sonny, I have the checklist already to take with me.

It's going to be very tough finding an RS4 in top condition especially as I'm an Audi virgin.
