RS4 collection checklist

Post by wolfgang » Thu Nov 25, 2010 9:33 am

I'm looking for advice on what I should check when going to collect my RS4 from the Audi dealer in a few days time. I need some help with some specifics related to the RS4.

My list is as follows at the moment:

- Check exterior and interior condition (inc. tyres and alloys)
- Check V5
- Check MOT certificate
- Check road tax
- Full set of keys (<--how many should there be and which types?)
- Driver's manuals
- Manual for Bluetooth system
- Manual for iPod integration
- Spare wheel/puncture repair kit (<-- which one does the RS4 have?)
- Tool kit
- Jack (<-- is there one?)
- Bill of sale
- Service booklet/service history
- Locking wheel nut key

So, I have questions on some of those (keys, spare wheel and jack) and is there anything else I should to that list?

Check exterior and interior condition (inc. tyres and alloys) - MANY CARS GET DAMAGED WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP, EVEN NEW CARS. THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD TO ARGUE THE TOSS ABOUT DAMAGE THEY NOTICED WHEN THEY GOT HOME, SO YES CHECK IT CAREFULLY AS THEY WILL NEVER ADMIT IT AND BLOW SOME PROFIT
Check V5 WHEN BBOY GOT HIS FROM AUDI HE DIDN'T SEE THE V5 BECAUSE AUDI DIDN'T HAVE IT, THEY APPLIED FOR ONE IN HIS NAME, HAVE YOU SEEN IT ALREADY? IF NOT DON'T YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO OWNED IT BEFORE?
Check MOT certificate
Check road tax
Full set of keys (how many should there be and which types?) 2 REMOTE KEYS AND A LITTLE PLASTIC WALLET KEY WITH TAG
Driver's manuals - MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CORRECT LEATHER RS4 EMBOSSED WALLET AND THE HUGE NAV+ MANUAL
Manual for Bluetooth system
Manual for iPod integration
Spare wheel/puncture repair kit (<-- which one does the RS4 have?) I BET YOU ANY MONEY THAT THE FOAM IN THE BOOT WILL HAVE PAST ITS USE BY DATE - AN APPROVED USED CAR CHECK SHOULD SPOT THIS - THERE IS NO SPARE WHEEL
Tool kit - I DON'T THINK THERE IS ONE
Jack (<-- is there one?) - THERE IS NO JACK
Bill of sale
Service booklet/service history CHECK ITS NOT A DUPLICATE
Locking wheel nut key

Additional:
Don't forget to get the Approved Used Car multipoint check documentation and check it's all ticked.

If the dealer has done some work on it, an invoice from service dept to sales should have been raised so ask for a copy.

Excuse the CAPS!

Also Cargo net

Question, if a car had been sold back to the dealership does that add to the number of previous owners on the V5 doc?

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

No, I don't think so. It's 'disposed of to the trade' so in limbo from a V5 point of view. There is no addition to the number of owners on the V5 until someone buys it from the dealership.

Thanks, noted. I forgot about this as I got the 2010 nav DVD thrown in free of charge. It was like getting blood out of a stone! LOL.

I'm unable to edit my original post. I wanted to develop the checklist into something that will help other RS4 buyers. I've taken all the points mentioned so far and split the checklist into documentation and inspection as follows:

Documentation:
Check V5
Check MOT certificate
Check road tax
Driver's manuals - Genuine RS4 embossed wallet, owner's manual + satnav+ manual
Manual for Bluetooth system
Manual for iPod integration
Bill of sale
Service booklet/service history - check service booklet is not a duplicate + service history certificate
HPI certificate
Roadside Assistance cover details
Audi Approved Used Guarantee details (inc. 30-day exchange plan)
100+ point check certificate
Provenance and mileage check certificate

Inspection:
Check exterior and interior condition (inc. tyres and alloys)
Full set of keys - 2 remote keys + plastic wallet key with tag
Puncture repair kit - check expiry date
Locking wheel nut key
Latest satnav DVD
Cargo net
Check seat side bolsters work (if you have bucket seats)
Complete tool kit (inc. tow hook)

Check for complete Tool kit, (black box located under carpet on left hand side), make sure it has the tow eye (some forget to replace if car has been recovered/towed) Wheel locking nut, wheel nut cover clamp, wheel spigot, wheel brace, off the top of my head im sure there is a screw driver and spanner in there.

If car has the ski bag option, make sure it has the ski bag lol known a few ppl on here not to have it. (think this was a saloon option).

Talking of petrol, on my test drive the needle was almost on empty. Should it have a full tank of fuel?

There's no "should" about it !
Wouldn't hurt them to bung half a tank in however.
Beware.... some salesman only have a £25 limit on their Audi C/Cards... to use at petrol stations (apparently).
