Re: Bedding in new brakes and discs what procedure?
I added mine in for the sheer bloody hell of it as everyone was putting down all sorts of different guff. I did state for Carbotech, not that they applied to everything. Anyway, Pagid pads are a great big bag of <beep>. I am using them currently and cannot fathom how any of you are driving around on them with any sense of safety when driving sportily.

What types of Pagid are you using Footers - 'eurocarparts' OE ones or Blue/Black/Orange/Grey/Yellows?

Re: Bedding in new brakes and discs what procedure?
Audi OE ones if memory serves. Only in there as a temporary measure. The carbotechs utterly destroy them for performance when not destroying my ears (on my car at least)

Re: Bedding in new brakes and discs what procedure?
Not all Pagids are crap, the RS range is supposed to be superb. But I agree the OE ones are utter crap. Grizz reckons they're a different compound to the genuine Audi Pagid pads.
Footers - Aren't you rocking Mintex pads? Which are probably sold as 'Audi OE' quality, but the Pagid are Audi OE, as Pagid supply Audi OEM. I hope that makes sense.

Don't confuse the OE pagids and the "ECP" pagids which are completely different.

Footlong should be discounted (no offence) as he is referring to CarbonTech.
I should be ignored as I had nothing meaningful to add.
Shoppinit's advice is usually sage (except when trying to steer you around Bangkok).
Mr. Green and Sonny are both in the same boat as Shoppinit but know even less about Bangkok.
You could de very little better to follow either Shop, Sonny or adsgreen's advice. Stop being a pussy and get out there.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Bedding in new brakes and discs what procedure?
Amar, not a moron dear, I binned the Mingetex pads a long, long time ago. This was after I had raped them so badly that every single pad was cracked through in multiple places. They were trashed after sub-1500 miles and the guy that took them out had never seen such battered pads after such a short run time

Holy crap thats a bit... excessive.rossi46 wrote:FWIW, Audi told me the following ;

A 2min gap between EACH run is required.
110 braking applications??!?
As for abs kicking in - that goes against decades of what I've been taught and personally advise.
60-20 is just such a short window.
as for 2mins between each one...
Just completely impractical.
Re: Bedding in new brakes and discs what procedure?
Gonna do it this evening when quiet, this is what im going to do....
Warm up brakes with some gentle braking for about 5min at slow speeds
then do 5 x 60mph to 5mph braking then 5 min cool down then repeat the procedure again then cool for 5 min
then will do 3 x 90mph to 50mph then let brakes cool down, hopefully then it will be ok.
Thanks for everyones input it was interesting of how different peoples opions are.

I love the search function......
Right, gonna bed my new front brakes in before my 350km autobahn run tomorrow evening.
So, new brakes, new gearbox bits and pieces, full service and the only things now needed are new lambda sensors and another more detailed look at the radiator.
OEM discs and pads fitted by friendly AUDI dealer. Would it typical or ironic if I run off the road after having them newly fitted? Can't really tell after reading these posts on bedding in.
Mechanic just drove by in my car - sounds fantastic..... Another reason to love it.
