Tyre Pressures for 225/40 ZR18 tyres ???

Post by Nige_RS4 » Mon Mar 22, 2004 2:48 pm

Any recommendations for fast road (not track-days)? I'm running 32psi all-round at the moment and am feeling every pimple in the road. Anyone got any experiences ?

I would think that is a little low....normally I would run 34-36 psi

Thanks Jeff, surely that would make the ride even more firm?

Yes but that's a product of your suspension ...you could try less pressure but you may find that you get some strange wear and/or overheating of the tyre. Sounds like you need adjustable suspension.

I have 235/40/17's and run 38 all round and it's spot on.

Any less and I find the steering goes 'Audi'

Tire pressure

Post by AFAP18 » Tue Mar 23, 2004 8:19 pm

In the city, I run 30-32, due to bad pavement.

When taking the car to the outside the city, usually run 36.. I am pretty satisfied with those numbers.

Don´t know about track, my guess is that the should run about 40.

By the way I run Stock wheels with Bilstein shocks and H&R springs, with ECS "coilover" kit.

It could actually improve the ride by making the sidewall taller.

The lower the profile the stiffer the sidewall and the higher the sensitivity to the inflation pressure.

Good luck

I'm running the same size tyres as you with lowered H&R coilovers. I run 38 all round and will increase by about 4 lbs for the loaded charge to Le Mans. :biggrin3:

At 38, the right is excellent. Really very comfortable given the handling.

What brand of tyres are you using?

Cheers
