Replacing trim which inc badge on flat bottom steering wheel

Post by JZARS » Wed Aug 03, 2011 7:07 pm

I have tried the search function with no luck!

I have a new trim which includes the RS4 badge, to go onto my flat bottom steering wheel. I have unscrewed the 4 star drive screws but it wont budge. Has anyone else managed to do this please? If so please can you let me know how!

Thanks in advance!!

iirc the 4 screws should be it. it may have some glue so see if you can gently tease it apart.

its a right pain in the ass, start to pull one side towards you then wiggle it off, pull hard like your going to pull the wheel off, its not glue as such its=ts just a really tight fit

thank Ads - two of the bolts - although totally unscrewed wont come out....tried gently then quite hard still cant prise it free. Cant believe Im going to have to take it to Audi just for s/wheel trim!!

Cheers Rick will give it another go.

the screws only screw in a couple of threads so if theyre loose it will come free, dont give up and let them do it for a stupid price, turn green and hulk it off

Pleased to report some level of success :beerchug:

Prised it apart, fitted new trim including shiny new rs4 badge  . Now just need another pair of hands to squeeze it all together so I can screw it up, as I cant quite get each side close enough to bite at the back of s/wheel.

Thanks for the help!!!

ps I wasted £20 quid on a replacement badge via fleabay - badge on its own cant be replaced...doh.

Sounds like you've got the older b5 rs4 logo that is a different shape

I got one freom fleabay and just use a knife to pop it out and super glued one back in looks great nothing wrong with it, but if you are just changing it out due to the missing black, i did fine out that you could just use a Black permanent marker and this again look great. I feel that i should have just used this in the first place! and saved myself £15
