If you're positioning it quite far back, perhaps you could fashion a drip tray and channel rain water into the (bizarrely named by audi) plenum chamber.

I'll be using similar drainage that Headshot used, so yes, the plenum chamber. The A2 vent is already built this way too, so bonus.

Interesting project bam, was thinking of adding vents but have been put off as wanted it to look oem as much as possible and struggling to find anything suitable. I;d be very interested to see how you get on - I suppose the only catch is if the curve of the a2 vent matches up with the curve of the rs bonnet line / base of the windscreen. Might look odd if it's too different?!..

Yep, I've considered that but I won't really know until my bodyshop gets hold of all the pieces. They did say the vent could be slightly 'reshaped' with some heat and persuasion, maybe some harsh words and shouting but nothing more.

The Nissan GT-R has them as standard. All you have to do to activate them is to ram a pedestrian.

Image
Unfortunately it also set off the Pedestrain Saftey system, where the bonnet pops up....

Which is a one use system....

You need to replace the bumper, rams, bonnet hinges....

and of course the ECU.

When the accident happened i called my dealer and asked them to collect the car and told them i would just pay for it without putting it through my insurance.

Then i found out the total cost of the repairs.

Eleven Thousand Pounds.

The bonnet vent opening is 860 x 77mm the width is constant on the curve, I took the bonnet off but couldn't find a part No. as it's covered in plastic ducting below..

PS.. I now drive a 1.4 Tdi A2 instead of the S6 :-(

MTM bonnet gashes.

Post by bam_bam » Sat Jun 11, 2011 2:34 am

Thanks but no thanks Bilko. It looks like there was an underground sewer explosion, catapulting 3 storm water grates 100ft in the air and then they all landed on that RS6 bonnet. Fucken 'orrible IMHO.
I have no idea what MTM were thinking.

Cheers for the details Technics, very helpful.

Bam, did you do the sportec undertray mod? I saw RS6 Dave did...

My first thoughts on RS6.com was that the hole was begging for a stone to fly up between the timing belt and a roller and... well its obvious. I'd have to put some wire mesh there.

Where are the A2 vents going, and does this have anything to do with the undertray mod? Or just a separate heat vent?
