3k - 8k 3rd gear with VCDS, HOW TO?

Post by Scatman » Tue Jun 07, 2011 9:01 pm

Hi,

Can anyone enlighten me on which option I click into in VCDS (rosstech) to time a 3000rpm-8000rpm run in 3rd gear?

Also, I tried the acceleration test, I hit start and set off but it doesn't register anything, is there something I might be doing wrong? The syste, says it's connected etc.

Help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

you dont need VCDS for this although i,m sure you could use it , use the lap timer in the dash that will give you a good enough idea
Phantom black saloon ,PES M112 Supercharged 520ps/595nm K&N filter, 100 cell milltek cats, res valved milltek system. 8 and 10mm H&R spacers.H&R roll bars, "smoke chrome " alloy refurb. JHM Quickshifter, Bilstein B16 coilovers , uprated diff mount ,50/50 devils own WM kit so 1.4 litres/min in intake approx 10% more power and torque
1/4 mile 12.01 secs 123.5mph

No idea on your question but Dynolicious app on the iphones does all the timings...... If that helps :nodder:

Just log RPM and click the turbo button. Go about 2000 rpm and put your foot down until you hit the rev limit. Save the log and look at the time between 3000-8000.

The lap timer method is way to inaccurate let alone the validity of this test finding problems to start with.

If you've got Vagcom, log timing and correction, this will give you a better idea of potential problems.

Good luck.

I'll do the logging at the weekend including timing and correction. Temps will be about 12c here at the weekend so nice and cool for accurate results

If you log intake temp also that would be handy.

Here is mine (shortly after my new engine was run in, so this would be the closest representation of how the logs would have looked like from a brand new RS4)
