Post by bazsroa » Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:36 pm

Hi chaps, Got a RS6 avant on a 04 plate ABS light keeps coming on intermittently, had a mate put his code reader on it and found trouble code c00287 rear right wheel speed sensor open circuit or short to ground, ive changed the sensor and still no joy ive had the wiring checked all ok, what i want to ask has anyone had problems with the control unit.

I had the control unit replaced on mine after it was showing the same symptoms as you and was verified as a faulty unit by Audi.It was replaced under warranty for £1300 or thereabouts. It might just be the brake switch which also causes the abs light to come on and that is significantly cheaper

Try cleaning the connector at the ECU, and checking the continuity of the loom for that side using the diagrams on ELSA. I still think it would be a wiring issue if it is only coming up for one sensor.

Check the wiring out before you do anything! Like golf says may just be a lose connection.

Hi guys thanks for the reply, i took on the job of testing the wires my self yesterday and all reading good, road tested with a diagnostic tester to carry out a data list of the sensors all working ok, so im thinking its possibly the ecu, any thoughts before i get it replaced.
