Question about Auto-boot function
Question about Auto-boot function
When one operates the boot button from the fob, does the boot open up fully under its own control, or do you have to assist at some point for the boot to open, i.e. it opens only a couple of inches, and then you have to open the boot before the struts operate?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Question about Auto-boot function
Mine opens all the way
RE: Question about Auto-boot function
OK Thank you. does your boot lid have sprung loaded rubber bung (helper) at the edge of the boot lid?

RE: Question about Auto-boot function
Mine opens all the way too
RE: Question about Auto-boot function
mine does if it feels like it - depends whether the car has a strop on - but yes it is meant to
RE: Question about Auto-boot function
Did I see somewhere that the 'fully opening' boot lid was an option, something about the gas struts being a differant type IIRC
RE: Question about Auto-boot function
Supposed to open all the way although a few weeks ago I seen a Merc which had auto boot closure too.

Re: RE: Question about Auto-boot function
Correct, not a simple swap either as brackets etc also need to be changed.pad125 wrote:Did I see somewhere that the 'fully opening' boot lid was an option, something about the gas struts being a differant type IIRC
RE: Re: RE: Question about Auto-boot function
It was a £30 option.
You can have it fitted after market, all you need is the uprated piston, bracket and spring for each side, works out around £60 quid. Im having it fitted at the moment. just it a slight snag, where it wont open fully. so we are not sure if it needs a spring loaded grommet (like what is shown in the other thread about the rubber strip on boot). As these might have been added at a later date to stop the boot rubbing on the bumper...watch this space.
Can any of you guys confirm that you have the spring loaded grommet on the tail gate. thanks

IIRC only on the saloon, not on the cab or Avant.sonny wrote:It was a £30 option.

Yep thats right Dave. But how "cool" would a avant auto boot be (even though it would have to be one strong strut).

mine only pops open a few inches, just unlatches
pretty sure all cars in the States are the same
no full opening option

RE: Re: RE: Question about Auto-boot function
I understood from my local dealer that new boot hinges are required as they're a different design. I've got all the part no's listed if anyone wants them.
