Cabriolet Sat Nav problems

Post by boulevard » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:00 pm

I have just got an S4 cab with Audi dvd sat nav. Sometimes it doesnt find any satelites and then the sat nav then just locks on to any road the arrow happens to come across.

Any clues as too what might be causing this, where about is the gps located on a cab?

Thanks

Steve

Get it scanned for Nav faults is easiest. Could be something as small as an unplugged GPS antena

Cheers. I will drop by a garage & ask them to plug their diagnostics in.

Hi,

If you press the "Nav-Info" button when viewing the map it should tell you how many satellites are receivable. I had a similar problem with my Cab where the Sat Nav would wander off across fields - it turned out to be a break in the cable near the boot hinge. The sat nav worked fine with the boot up , but not with it down. I cut the cable where the break was and soldered in a length of repair cable.

Regards, Chris.

Thanks Chris. I have found that button & most of the time it just says it there are 0 receivable. It does work sometimes though which is the bizarre thing.

Am I right that the module is in the boot?

Yeah, It's in the boot lid - easy to access - just remove the boot lid trim. It sounds like it's the same broken cable problem.
The cable comes in to the boot lid by the left hinge. Try lifting the boot lid and wait a minute and see if the satellites appear.

Regards, Chris.
