Advice required on possible suspension problem!!

Post by Stealth_RS4 » Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:46 pm

Bit of a problem. Got my tyre changed today and was having a look around the car when I noticed the car is sitting lower on the passenger rear than the drivers rear. About an inch and a half in the difference. I have sports suspension plus by the way. Pics to follow.Anyone shed any light on the problem. Checked the suspension on that side too, cant see any weeping etc. Back drivers gap between tyre and arch seems to be higher than the drivers front wheel arch gap.

Pics as promised, im thinking maybe the srivers rear is up to high. Gap at the front is around 10cms on both sides. Tape isnt lined up roght but it can be seen that the two gaps are different.

after driving the car measure from level ground to fender lip at each corner...
mine are ~26.5" +/- 1/8"
an 1.5" variation sounds like a problem...

which tire was changed?
perhpas the spring isn't situated properly in the perch?
maybe got out of wack when jacked up for the tire?

Passenger rear was changed today. From looking at pics of the car from a couple of years ago it looks like maybe the drivers side rear is up to high. Should sit slightly lower at the back with sports suspension plus? How would I check the spring Arthur?

you have to get under it, see if both sides components look the same, ie, symetrical...nothing different, bent, etc.

how far was the car driven after the tire change until the measurments?
time to settle?

Have you ever had your DRC changed out? lets hope they put back SS+ instead of the Norm suspension (worse case scenario of course). did you say the car had only just started to sit this high after the tyre change, or you have only just noticed it, when compared to older pics?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

may be just coincidence, but VW/Audi have a tendancy to break springs, seen a few in my time. This would be a reason for un-even height, worth a check, probably wheen off job tho'
