Mine are fine. It comes back now and again, normally when its wet and salty. That's the pattern I have been able to put together.

Did the squeeling go away on it's own accord or did you resort to some high speed breaking to bed the discs & pads in?

I'm trying to develop new breaking techniques to bypass the squeel!!!

If I did any high speed braking it wasn't to specifically address the problem

So no, I think they have either bedded in ok and its stopped, or its because there is less salty water on roads at the mo.

I have resorted to knocking the car into neutral a few yards before the car comes to a complete stop in populated areas. :)

I've spotted the same pattern. The squeeling went away on its own accord after a month of driving after fitting. However, with all the snow and ice that's about the squeeling is back ... roll on spring if it ever gets here.

I have squeeling on my B7 RS4 front brakes, it had new disks and pads less than 1000 (easy) miles ago - have tried the old slamming on and that cured it for a day - thoughts?

Mine squealed when first new. They were still doing it 500 mils later. Took them apart, copper greased everything and hadnt heard a peep until this morning. I think its related to how hot they are. After only trundling along for 10 minutes the squeal was very bad but after another 20 mins they seemed ok.

I trained as a tech at BMW in Enfield for a while, I was always told that it's a glaze over the surface of the pad. our cure was to take the pad out and rub some ruff sand paper on the braking surface to take the glaze off. And I have to say it always worked. As far as I know the squeeling is a result of prolonged hard braking before the pads have bedded themselves in. During test drives after jobs we would do very short hard stabs of the brakes to bed them in without heating them up too much. then leave a notice to take it easy for 100 miles or so. It's was a rare thing if we ever had come backs and only ever had to sort out the DIY jobs people had fitted correctly but not bedded in. It should only take ten mins a corner to do.
