Read fault codes first (vag-com or dealership 1551/1552). The motronic is taking away boost, and you'll have some clue to the cause by looking at the codes.

I suspect a leak in the intake somewhere, but who knows.

Have you checked all of the intake hoses and vacuum tree?

IS it like hitting a brick wall whengets to about 4k revs?

Happy new year everybody.
Hey Timusin for the last few days i am getting a similar problem. I dot get full boost on 1 2 3 gear but i do in 4 even though the car seems like loosing or cutting the boost at 1.4. ( Normally i should get 1.8 bar.) It feels like there is a cut in the fuel or spark problem. I dont think it is a leak in boost because the engine seems like hesitating for a moment due to either cut in the fuel or one of the cylinders not working for a moment.nyway i ll check it on monday since everyone is on holidays now.
What did you do with the brake light? I changed the pads but i stil get and now even more often. I ll check the warning valve on monday. Did you get rid of yours false brakelight warning? ( Note that the level of brake fluid is ok i.e full)
Ps: Sometimes i think that the problems will never end.On the other hand it gives me such a smile when late at night ( most of the times after a lot of alcohol! ) it drives like hell through slippery turns here i our poorly constacted Cretan roads. Anyway with the money i ve spent on the car and the money i am planning to spend i could buy a new EVO 8. The thing is that you fall in love with it just like a demanding girlfreind that in one time you want to get rid of and the other you feel that you cant live without.

there is more: on higher gears boost drops to 5-6psi at 5000rpm exactly. it shows 20 psi at normal conditions.this is protection mode but i dont know what is wrong, will check fault codes tomorrow

brake bomb is definetly worth changing. As for your cutting out and low boost problems.

Has the WGFV and DV been replaced recently? If not would do that, WGFV is about £25, DV £35.

Also worth checking is the wastegate since this may be sticking slightly. Since it is controlled by the ECU thru the WGFV that could still be the problem.

Have a read thru the info here too
