Got a track day coming up...will let you know how it goes. Street wise, they feel more grippy and quieter.

I still have problem with my shocks though, when both rear ones were replaced shortly after the both front replaced, I now get an annoying clanking noise over small bumps at low speed (sounds like a car jack not held down properly but as you know, there's no jack & I have even removed everything out of the rear compartment). The noise is much less if the car is loaded up with more people?##!#! They think it might have to be with the pressure charged a bit too high. I'm booked in to leave the car there with the master tech to try to sort it out. If anyone have any idea what's wrong with it, please feel free to let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like a classic DRC symptom i.e. one/some of your shocks have failed... check for leaking?

Thanks Marcus for your input.

Can one or more of the 4 newly replaced shocks leak again that soon? I heard the clanking right on the day I picked up the day but I thought it might have been "new" shock and take some bedding in but unfortunately, it hasn't gone away after 5 weeks.

Its the exact sound I heard when my shocks went, and I gave exactly the same analogy to what it sounded like...

I have heard of shocks failing soon after (weeks) install of the new ones, this is usually due to a poor installation and the pressures not being correct, the longer you leave it the worse it will get! :(

I just picked up the hydraulic jack this morning so will take the wheels off and take a good look at these shocks this weekend and will report back. As I said, the car is booked in for further diagnostics but I'll be very p*** if I find any leak with these new shocks!!!

i've had the same shock replaced 4 times in 3 months, so yes they can go so soon after replacement...

Yep, 120Nm for the RS4 8E, and 140Nm for the RS4 8D. From the Audi Workshop manual.
Curiously, what is the difference between a 8E and 8D?

In terms of "how quick can they leak" I'm sure I'll be bettered on this, but i have a front failed after 3 months and about 2000 miles.
