I'm using Castrol Edge, 5w30. It's VW 504 507 rated and I'm told is what the car came with from the factory.
I've only ever used 95RON fuel in an emergency - not all small garages in the UK have the much more preferred 98RON.

Only run it on 99 but if stuck put a little of 95 till you see the next petrol station, as for oil i use castrol but you have to check the dipstick constantly.

Castrol Edge 5w30

97/98 and 99 RON fuel.

Does Spain have the same RON rating as the UK, I know in the states its different, 93 RON is 98 RON UK. (Arthur correct me). what does it say on the inside of your filler cap, should have it in a Spanish RON.

AFAIK the EU all use RON octane ratings, where the US use the average of MON and RON ratings.

I haven't had mine too long & have run it mostly on Shell Super 99 or whatever it is called. If I know will be doing a long mway run I tend to top up with std UL as is a bit cheaper although many say the mpg is better with the higher octane stuff. I used to run my R32 (also meant to have super) on std & was fine but am more careful with the RS4 as engine is in a higher state of tune. Oil I use Castrol Edge (left over from the R32 but correct spec for both cars)

It will cost you more to use the cheaper fuel lol due to the burn rate of the fuel. so even if the fuel is more expensive you will get more MPG from it, there for it is actually cheaper.

I wouldn't bother TBH. I used to do that but the mpg difference is about 10% worse with 95RON unleaded in the UK and costs 3-5% less so no gain at all. Better to economise your use of your lead foot.

Plus the RS feels dog rough and takes a couple of tanks of 98/99 to get its normal sharpness back.

There is also a theory posted on this forum that using 95 RON may contribute more to carbonisation of the valves. It say on the filler flap min 97 RON, it is usually for a reason.

Using 95 won't get all the ponies or torques working in your engine either.
