My missus got 34mpg (on DIS) on a trip back from north of scotland last night (I had partaken of some of the amber nectar) and the weather was so s**t she drove it at 50mph on the m'way...
To be fair the weather was attrocious so I don't blame her for the speed thing!
To be fair it is better on fuel than many a family car.
I mean if I really got bitten by the "sensible" bug and bought a Disco 3 then it would only average mid twenties and be absolutely mind numbingly boring to boot!

For the amount of power generated and a permanent 4x4, the fuel consumption of an RS6 is amazingly good.

Basically, all of us on here were probably scared to buy an RS6 truth be told. There are lots of things that could go wrong but then might not. I've had mine coming up to 2 years now and not one single thing has gone wrong with it apart from the hellish DRC which was replaced under warranty after only 3 weeks of ownership with H&R coilovers. Oh and the rear wash-pipe came off.
Do it while you can. No one can predict what might go wrong with it, but if you don't get one, you'll never know.. That was the approach I took anyway

Ok feeling a bit more encouraged now. Glad to see somebody got over 30mpg from one...that does sound impressive!
I tend to treat my cars well and am handy with a spanner so things like suspension bush/balljoints etc don't bother me. I don't mind getting my hands dirty. Last major job I had to do was a clutch on a golf and that was a PITA!!
One query: i thought all RS6's had the flappy paddle change but looks like its not std. Is this easy to retrofit?

They've either got the flaps or the buttons on the 4 spoke multifunction wheel. I much prefer the buttons, but it's like the saloon / avant thing

In my case, the DIS over-reads by about 10% or so - says 26mpg, means 23mpg when calculated. All the same, DIS gives me 22mpg round town and 26mpg on a decent 70-80mph run.
Drove back from Berlin last week and was able to make good progress, so can confirm Cornish's stats of 5.5mpg at 195mph!
BTW, I have a Panda 4x4 for running to and from the office ....!

fyi, You can correct the displayed mpg with the vagcom.

Be VERY careful before doing this - there have been several threads on here warning that there is a difference in the airbag trigger systems, and this guy on Tyresmoke was lucky to get out without injury. http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-a3- ... ost1435262put a C6 RS6 wheel on
If in doubt PM Craigyb who has bags of experience (oops, sorry for pun) and will give you good clear advice.

The more I think about it the more I'm happy and plan to get one.
I'm not a big AUTO box fan which is why I kind of like the idea of the paddles as I'd feel a bit more in control. I had a twin turbo subaru legacy before and it was auto and drove me mad as it wouldn't change up as early as i wanted especially when cold.
