ESP overly keen.
ESP overly keen.
Had my RS4 for a couple of months now. The ESP seems to kick in even when overtaking in a straight line. Don't think this is normal. Had all wheel speed sensors checked and they're fine. Starting to get annoying now. Any ideas??

RE: ESP overly keen.
are all the tyres the same? - recall a post about this a while back
RE: ESP overly keen.
Hi Craig is it doing it when you flick the car out quickly to overtake and it comes on boost at the same time?If so mine does it too, spirited driving needs it to be turned off really its Poooh
Yeah all the tyres are the same. Rich , yes it's when you pull out of traffic on an overtake. I expected it when in 2nd or even 3rd as they struggle to put the power down but it's happening in 4th!! Cut's in quite abruptly. Thought maybe I was giving it too much right foot but maybe I just need to get used to it.. or switch it off!!

Could be a broken, dirty or mis-aligned ABS sensor ring too - quite common.

Im trying to find out if there is some component that could be adjusted/changed/ whatever in the ESP controller ( wherever that might be!)
My car did it in second and third gear when putting the gas on. The tyres were only slightly more worn on the fron than the rears so I changed the front tyres and the issue stopped for me. This was after having my ABS checked and cleaned.
Hope this helps

My rear tyres have more tread than the fronts. Do you think it's worth swapping them around??lushman wrote:My car did it in second and third gear when putting the gas on. Maybe it's the quality of the tyres you are using? When I first had my RS4 I had this trouble, changed the tyres for Michelin PS2s and the problem has never come back.
RS4 in the only colour to have - Misano Red | MRC Remap | RS6+ brakes | H&R and Custom Performance Parts suspension |
