What warranty work have you had done?

Post by stenning » Fri May 15, 2009 1:06 pm

I am trying to compile a list of potential warranty issues on the B7, would it be possible to post warranty work you have had done here and I will try and compile a full list at the end.

Thanks in advance for your help!

SW upgrades (which might be warranty work, but certainly not an "issue"), a squeaky seat and DRC

No doubt most people have had something done - unique to them (or a small group) in many cases - and I'm not exactly sure how a list of these would help

Isn't it a bit like asking who's been to the doctors, and what for? You'd never leave the house...

I thnk it is safe to say DRC and brake discs are the two most notable ones. I have also heard of clutch / pipe but touch wood have never had anything like this done on mine.

Nothing else for me.

Thanks, what was the issue with brake discs?

In terms of "Isn't it a bit like asking who's been to the doctors, and what for? You'd never leave the house..." I think the use will be for owners to check before the cars goes out of warranty, the same as life insurance companies ask for a medical before providing cover, they check the basics not every possible medical problem.

Where do you want me to start???

Faulty low break pad sensor
Knackered valve in drivers seat to inflate bolsters
Creaking interior trim "A" pillars.
Corrosion on alumimnuim boot strip
Failed coil pack cylinder 8.
Fuel sensor recall
Battery holder recall.
Loose drivers door handle exterior.

ALL fixed under warranty though never cost me a penny apart from fuel to and from dealers.

BUT i still love this car!!!!!

That wasn't a warranty issue for me - I got hold of the disc from contacts in Europe three months before it was available in the UK.

DRC obviously
front brake disks
engine mounts
couple of recalls - nothing major

Still hoping to get some work done through the warranty at the moment - ECU update for starters...

Blimey, a new engine is a new one! What did you do to the old one?

Love the way that it's last on the list, after a bit of trim!

RECALL
Fuel sensor recall

ADVISORY
Battery tray advisory (crack in floor)
Power steering fluid change advisory (noisy pump)
0090 sw advisory (major improvement to cold running)
TMC sw update (cos it should work!)

FAILURES
One adaptive xenon replaced on day two of ownership
At least 8 or 10 shock absorbers (now seems OK)
2 coil packs on same cylinder (suspect faulty plug as fault came up and recurred within a month, then gone with new plugs)

Rik, the PAS fluid change - was that to cure the groan on lock?
