Suspension
I don't mind a firm ride (was this a bishop to actress comment or vice versa?), but my suspension, on the car, that is, can best be described as 'clonky' both front & back. The car also seems to want to step out at the rear when it becomes unsettled on bumpy corners. By comparison my wife's A4 Turbo Quattro feels all of a piece over the same route. Any ideas please?

Re: Suspension
mine is quite a bumpy ride also, but no stepping out unless i want it to
Get audi/specialist to check out the suspension top mounts and bushes i had to have my top mounts changed due to wear before these were done it was very unpredictable.
hope this helps a bit

Re: Suspension
Sounds like the dampers may be finished, especially if car is getting out of shape on bump(stop)s. Get some Koni's from qst and the car will be transformed.

Re: Suspension
not much in it, bilsteins are gas shocks so slightly better from performance point of view but arent adjustable and woul have to give it very serious pounding to worry about the oil throthing inside the shock

Re: Suspension
Doesn't the RS2 from the factory have Bilstein dampers?

Re: Suspension
Don't know who produced the originals, but 1.5 years ago the factory replacements were produced by Boge. Otherwise ok, a bit soft in slow movement.
Re: Suspension
what about coil overs?
anybody using them? they sound pretty nice to me ,adjusting height and softness.
which brand is better/adviced on this type?
thnx

Re: Suspension
Ask Niko at yahoo list. He has K&W coil overs, and is unhappy -they are way too soft. He might even sell those...
Stock suspension is a good compromise IMO. Any lower would have to be rock hard or it is bound to bottom out all the time...

Re: Suspension
don't know if it helps but I have KW coilovers on my S3 and the springs are a little soft but still harder than the standard springs. I may try and find harder ones if these 'Settle' anymore.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
Re: Suspension
Hi Guys,
As an ex RS2 owner/lover I know how firm the car was. I now have a B5 RS4, which had similar problems (plus cracked rear springs) to yours and I replaced the complete suspension with a Bilstein/Eibach B12 Kit, which comprises B6/B8 Bilstein dampers, plus matched Eibach springs. The ride is transformed into something (I think) far better than a B7!! No more jiggling/thumping or bumping at all, but not roly-poly at all!!
There is no B12 kit for the RS2, but Bilstein do dampers and I would highly recommend them.

Just for info, these are non-adjustable coil-overs, suited to road use, so if you want to slam/track the car they are not for you. For everyday use they will probably be the best money you can spend on the car. For info, the complete B12 kit (springs + dampers) was only £550 delivered.

(Still missing my Ragussa RS2, even though the RS4 is objectively better)
