Imola S4
Imola S4
Whats up with this car? Has been advertised for quite a while now. I'm tempted to get into one of these rather than waiting for a modified B5 S4 to come up. I know it's not going to be earth shatteringly quick, but should have a decent amount of grunt shirley?

doesn't look the cleanest inside but outside looks ok. Would be worth a look at that price for sure!

It does look like the tip's are black all around the outside though! Even a little bit of a clean inside would have made a diffrencePete.S wrote:The very fact the seller hasn't even bothered to give it a quick hoover and get rid of that dirty great boot mark on the floor mat before photography would put me off straight away.
And check out the state of the exhaust tips! They didn't do black as option on the yellow ones did they?

Have you been in one of these cars? They don't hang around mate. It would be worth you going in one before considering one. You might think it doesn't fel fast but keep your eye on the speedo and you'll be a little suprised!carpy wrote:Hang on, if these things are 2210kg and about 344bhp, that's a pretty poor power to weight ratio isnt it.
My old volvo was about the same as that!! Not joking either.

The power to weight does seem poor but it is still a very capable car. Also the 2210kg is the fully laden weight, which is not normal driving conditions.carpy wrote:Hang on, if these things are 2210kg and about 344bhp, that's a pretty poor power to weight ratio isnt it.

The avant is 1760kg, the saloon is less at 1660kg unladen. I suspect the reason(s) why it is still on the market is a) running costs and b) the colour. The condition doesn't look too bad considering it has 80,000 miles on it and the price obviously reflects the mileage and condition. Personally I wouldn't buy a car of that colour primarily from a re-sale point of view but it is worth considering that not all people are car fanatics and just use the car i.e. it maybe in good mechanical condition but a little below par on the cosmetic side.
The B6 S4 is a quick car in anybody's book and I suspect maybe more reliable than a modified B5 S4 especially as you may not know the quality of the modifications made unless you do them yourself.

I can't see someone who isn't a car fanatic buying an Imola yellow one though tbh, especially if you're gonna use it as a work horse (as this one obviously has been at 80k). What's weird is, the exterior looks in great nick - clean & he's even polished the tyres - so why let it down by not spending 5 mins on the interior? Personally I think S & RS cars look awesome in Imola on the road, but I wouldn't buy one because I think they're a little too "look at me".
The B6 is definitely more reliable than even a standard B5 (I've run both to high mileage), and I agree, in over 4 years of ownership I've never been wanting of more power on public roads. For track use though, that'd be a different story...
