IIRC the cooant temp sensor sends seperate signals to the ECU and the gauge on the dash. When my coolant temp stopped working on the dash, the engine was still running fine. Checking on the Climate Control unit or Vagcom, you could see that it was correctly showing the coolant temp.

So in summary, don't believe what the gauge is telling you! It may be correctly registering 90 on the gauge, but sending different readings to the ECU.

Air intake on intake just before throttle body which then splits through the boot to both sides of block.
MAF sensor after air box and just before silver y-pipe (on top of engine), which then goes down to turbos.
MAP? Really? You not thinking Charge pressure sensor? ;-)
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!

Standard S4, but not for long.

Semantics? It's a pressure sensor.

Thought the Air Intake temp sensor was after TBB. Got a pic of where it is?

Good pic. Looks like the AIT sensor is plumbed into the inlet manifold but sits below the plenum. Would that be fair to say?

pretty much.

The diagram is actually a scan from audi's training manual on the 2.7l v6 engine. I have got a copy of the training manual, which is where i learnt some of my stuff. I prefer the practical learning ;-)
They use the same engine in the old A6, not as powerful, (230bhp i think) etc.

I have the same manual but must confess I haven't got round to reading it :notworthy:
