Judging by it's design i would not be surprised if it actually restricted airflow at higher 3 figure speeds.
The original airbox has an additional opening to allow the extra air required at such speeds, whivh that does not.
I have a feeling the picture of the kit's component parts is not the correct one...i.e. it is not the RS4's. If you look at the fitted kit (in the above picture), it is wider and differently shaped with what looks like the capacity for a much wider diameter conical filter. The picture below it looks like a kit for a different car. Also, we cannot see the inferior aspect of the kit so I wouldn't write it off as having no additional openings. It certainly looks like a much more direct/larger diameter and larger air flow feed than stock so I don't see how you've concluded it is more restrictive.

GruppeM have an astonishingly good reputation so I'd wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions that it is "restrictive". When I contacted them 12 months ago, they had this kit in development for 8 months already and were not happy to release it until they felt confident that it does what it says. They certainly did not rush it, which is actually a good sign in my eyes.

The only way to prove/disprove whether it works is for someone to buy it, have the car mapped with it and compare dyno readings before and after.

I had a very similar set up on my TT with a Neuspeed air box. On the earlier APX engines there is a cold start-up air pump which runs momentarily on start-up to help with emisions and this used a small K&N filter identical to what is in the photo. Either the RS4 has a similar set-up or it's not a picture for the RS4.

To be honest, this makes no difference to normal running and performance and if ever the pump went wrong then many people just disconnected the pump. I didn't do that by the way. As far as I'm concerned, if it's there then it should be working.

Any power increases on the normally aspirated RS4 are hard to find and whilst it looks like a fine bit of kit £950 is well expensive for 7 bhp !
I'm currently having the debate between a non resonated milltek exhaust or a DMS upgrade. I guess I really need to do the exhaust first, ram air kit second and
the DMS upgrade last to save having to have it all remapped again.
If a group buying offer brought the price closer to £700 or less I would be interested.

Gruppem Japan have confirmed a UK delivered price of 138,000 Yen, plus duty if applicable. At today's rate that is about £670. I'm tempted!

Not got any upgrades on my RS4 yet, I would deffinately be up for a group buy of this. Then look into an exhaust and remap.

Any sugestions would be well appriciated.

Also tempted. I had no plans to modify the RS4 until I saw this. And I know that if I start, next up it'll be the exhaust, then the remap, then the suspension, etc...

Delivery can take a while as gruppeM manufacture the intakes only upon order. It would be better in terms of waiting times for you all to arrange a group buy. If they have a confirmed order of say 5-10, they can give priority to making that batch and that should speed things up. You should also be able to negotiate a discount depending on the numbers. I'm thinking if 5 people are in the GB, try for a £50 reduction, if 10 people or over, try for £75-100 reduction.

I would have jumped at this if I still had an RS4 but I don't, so maybe one of you guys can take charge of it after speaking to gruppeM Japan or europe, to see what they can do on prices/delivery time?

Copy correspondence from Japan - self explanatory. I'm up for it so can any of you experienced group buyers advise me how to proceed?

I'm out on this one. Too much money for the potential gains IMO - Looks nice though ;-)
