Indicator problem
Indicator problem
Hi,
Both my indicators (left and right) have started playing up.
The bulbs are fine.
The speed is not consistent and they have no just started stopping after a couple
of blinks - relay bad?
Cheers,
Jon

OK, next question. How the f*** are you meant to get these things out?
I have managed to break the old relay AND the cup holder trying to do this.

RE: Indicator problem
I did one the other day, and the best method I found was by breaking off the top edge, and then sliding a hook behind it, and levering it out.

RE: Indicator problem
I broke the front off (you might as well it's knackered anyway) giving me something to grip with a pair of pliars. Then just pull hard untill it comes out.

My indicators were failing. Bought a new relay from VagParts for £20 - just swapped it in. Here's how I did it - took five minutes.
Popped off trim. Got some mole grips and adjusted them such one side of the teeth lay flat along the bottom of the red triangle and the other lay against the upper point of the triangle. Swift pull and the red switch bit came away leaving the inner relay box and a couple of springs showing - it's knackered anyway so no loss. Adjusted the mole grips down such that I could grab the relay box itself - or rather the edge of it - one set of teeth on the inside now, the other on the outside lip. Another tug at it and the whole thing came out. Uplugged it from the wiring harness, plugged the new one in, tested it. All fine so pushed it home and all done.
I didn't have to use much force or wrestle with it much - just make sure the grips have a good hold and yank backwards.
It's pleasing to have fully working indicators again!
